Cindy Mclane - SNNAPITHave you ever had so many things going on in your life, felt tired and got overwhelmed and a little bit stressed out?

“You are stupid.” “I can’t do this anymore.” “I hate my life.” “I wish I was sick so I could get a break.” “There is no enjoyment in my life.” “I don’t care if a freight train hits me, I don’t care.”

What happens when you fill your mind with negative thoughts? You begin to believe them. Your quality of life spirals down. You are miserable and so are your family, friends, and co-workers.

I developed the SNNAP IT (Stop Negativity Now Achieve Positivity Improving Thoughts) program to help myself. I realized I was filling my mind with negative thoughts day after day. The life I dreamed of was now suddenly turning into a life of work, anxiety, stress and no enjoyment. I was working 16 - 18 hour days doing medical transcription, developing a computer program in my “spare time,” working on weekends, consulting with local businesses, volunteering for the high school football team, taking my son to tennis tournaments, trying to be a wife, mother, housekeeper as well as helping anyone who needed help. The problem was I had no time for myself. I had lost sight of my goals and dreams. Actually I had no goals. My goal was to make sure everyone else was getting their goal accomplished.

A few days before Thanksgiving 2006, I received a phone call from a company in California. They were interested in having CD’s transcribed. My brother James, who is a motivational speaker and Co-Author of Chicken Soup for the College Soul, referred the company. Dreading taking on another job I agreed to do it. This job became the turning point in my life.

The California Company dealt with real estate foreclosures and in one section of the seminar they taught their agents how to build up their self-esteem and how to believe in themselves. They taught how to schedule in free time for yourself. They impressed the importance of reading and listening to tapes. More importantly, they talked about only having one life and enjoying the life you have. If you are working 80 hour weeks, you’re not spending time with family or spending time on yourself. You have to take control of your life. You have the power to change.

I realized changes needed to be made in my life. I listened to the CD series for months whether I was at home, in the car, or on a trip. This became a habit. I also listened to Tony Robbins and began putting together a system to change. One of my goals was to read a book a month. I started with Success Starts with Attitude by James Malinchak and followed with other self help books.

I knew changes were not going to come overnight. They were going to take a long time and I knew positives were going to have to be reaffirmed daily. I developed the SNNAP IT bracelet and made positive affirmation cards to carry with me. I made a SNNAP IT shower card to read every morning. I had a SNNAP IT card taped to my mirror, hanging on my purse, in my daily planner, on my briefcase and in the car. Positive thoughts were surrounding me and miraculously changes started happening.

The SNNAP IT program has helped me rebuild my life and it can help you as well.
